What is Mineral Skin Shield?
Our Mineral Skin Shield is a blend of ingredients designed to shield skin from the elements. In particular, our Mineral Skin Shield is designed to protect skin from the harsher conditions present in tropical climates, like extreme heat, oil, and sweat.
Specifically, Mineral Skin Shield promises to offer:
- Sun protection (a minimum SPF 16, broad spectrum)
- Water- and sweat-resistance
- Oil-control and oil-absorption
- Dirt defense
How does it work?
As the name suggests, Mineral Skin Shield is Ellana’s unique mix of mineral ingredients, chosen for their ability to defend skin against pollution, UV rays, sweat, and oil, without clogging pores. This proprietary blend features powerhouse staples such as:
Zinc Oxide - a physical, mineral sunscreen that also acts as an anti-inflammatory and helps dry blemishes.
Kaolin Clay - an oil-controlling clay that also helps pull impurities from the skin and acts as a defensive barrier against the elements.
Sericite - a variant of (ethically-sourced!) mica that helps bind our mineral ingredients together while helping give skin a radiant appearance.
Acting as “boosters” for these mineral ingredients are several organic botanicals that help deliver additional skincare benefits! Rice powder, allantoin, vitamin E, and vitamin C all help improve your skin’s resilience while improving its overall health!

Try our Pressed Mineral Foundation, which maximizes the powers of Zinc Oxide for a Mineral Skin Shield blend that also creates a filter-finish.
